The Boys: Guy dressed as Homelander saves man from burning house
Dressed as Homelander for Halloween, Chris Taylor did something the actual superhero would never do: help someone. And actor Antony Starr took notice.
If you watch The Boys on Amazon Prime Video, then chances are that you hate Homelander’s guts. Even though people believe Homelander to be a patriotic, dedicated, down-to-earth superhero, viewers learn very early in season 1 that he is not who he appears to be. Having been raised by scientists in a lab, Homelander is actually a sadistic, self-obsessed maniac with zero empathy who hides his true nature from the world.
Played wonderfully by actor Anthony Starr, Homelander is a larger-than-life villain who you love to hate. He’s vile, and his awe-inspiring powers — including flight, laser vision and super strength — make him a real threat.
However, just because Homelander is a terrible human doesn’t mean he can’t inspire others to do good. The Boys fan Chris Taylor recently proved that this past Halloween night. Taylor decided to dress up as Homelander, American flag cape and all! He was heading to a Halloween party with his children and fiancée when he saw a fire enveloping a nearby building. Dressed up as a superhero, Taylor took his role seriously and sprung into action.
“We took the alley. First time ever,” the Greenville, Ohio native told MovieWeb. “And we pull up to the alley and I look back. There are flames coming out of the house and the whole upstairs was consumed, flames were just pouring out it was pretty gnarly. I yelled as loud as I can, ‘Is anybody in here,’ real loud, and I heard — if someone was to get hit in the sternum, how you kind of sound like you’re losing your wind — I heard a sound like that; kind of a moaning, wispy sound. There were flames around and just inches from me; my costume was getting hot, I felt like I was melting; I couldn’t breathe. The smoke was real, real heavy.”
Thankfully, Taylor was able to save a man from inside the burning building. The man was unharmed and no one sustained any injuries from the incident, although the cause of the fire is still unknown. The story actually made its way to Antony Starr, who shared the news and congratulated Taylor for his actions:
When one cheeky fan jokingly asked if the Homelander doppelgänger also started the fire, something the real Homelander would probably do, Antony Starr kept it up:
What happens at Vought, stays at Vought!
The story is pretty ironic considering that Homelander has never once gone out of his way to save anyone on The Boys, unless it’s for publicity. Regardless, Chris Taylor was definitely deserving of the title “superhero” for his quick action on Halloween.
If Homelander is one of your favorite bad guys, then you should check out this fan-made trailer that pits him against Superman. Now that would be an epic showdown! Both of them have similar powers, but very different morals, so it would be interesting to see which one of them would win in a battle!
If Homelander wins, we’re pretty much doomed.
