Take an official look behind the scenes of Stranger Things season 4
By Dan Selcke
The Stranger Things kids form a new club and are back to playing D&D in behind-the-scenes pics and footage. That 20-sided die sure is behaving strangely…
After some stops and starts, filming on the fourth season of Stranger Things is up and running once again, and even though we probably won’t see new episodes for a while, the cast and crew look to be in good spirits, at least based on new behind-the-scenes shots from the official Stranger Things Instagram account:
First up, we’ve got Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Sadie Sink (Max), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) and Joe Keery (Steve Harrington) relaxing on set between takes, pulling down their masks to flash a smile. You can tell they’re in costume on account of all the ’80s denim they’re wearing.
And the polaroid pictures are a nice touch. When you’re on the Stranger Things set, it’s all ’80s, all the time!
Another picture connects to the season 4 premiere, which it titled “The Hellfire Club.” So far as we can guess, that’s a reference to the villainous Hellfire Club from the X-Men comics, which would have been making a splash around this time period. On the show, it seems to be the name for the boys’ new Dungeons & Dragons group or something:
Click over to see Gaten Matarazzo in a full Hellfire Club tee-shirt. The boys make their own merch!
Speaking of D&D, there are a couple of shots of a 20-sided die rolling across a game board. Is this actual footage from the show?
If you click over, you can see this shot from above. The die lands on “11” both times. Because geddit?
Finally, some shots of the kids dressed up for Halloween:
These look like they were taken earlier in the series’ life, but still fun. I think my favorite is McLaughlin as Bob Marley.
Expect Stranger Things 4 in 2021…hopefully.
