American Horror Stories (that’s plural) will feature standalone episodes, with lots of AHS standbys returning. Creator Ryan Murphy gets into it:

It feels like every time I turn on my laptop, Ryan Murphy has announced a new project. It probably seems that way because it’s true: Ryan Murphy has built an entertainment empire.

As reported by Time, Murphy left Fox for a production deal with Netflix worth $300 million. He’s writing, directing, and producing several shows for the streaming platform, including The Politician, Ratched and A Chorus Line-inspired miniseries, just to name a few. He also still produces content for FX, including Pose, American Horror Story, and another season of American Crime Story, which will follow the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Seriously, when does Ryan Murphy even have time to sleep?!

And now, Murphy is bringing us an American Horror Story spinoff, aptly named American Horror Stories, with an ‘S’. “We are doing 16 one-hour stand alone episodes delving into horror myths, legends and lore,” he said on his Instagram. “[M]any of these episodes will feature AHS stars you know and love. More to follow…”

That definitely sounds intriguing! I’ve always wished that American Horror Story would venture into the mythological and legendary, so it will be interesting to see what themes American Horror Stories will include. And the poster looks pretty creepy:

I wonder which AHS stars will be featured in this new series. There are, of course, the regular players, such as Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Emma Roberts and Kathy Bates. I’m just holding out hope that one day Connie Britton will eventually return to the Ryan Murphy AHS-verse to play the knockout villain I know she can play!

As of right now, there is no official news about a premiere date for American Horror Stories.
