Disney shows off Star Wars hotel rooms, Guardians of the Galaxy ride, more

Not many folks are going to theme parks at the moment, but Disney is hard at work on some killer attractions to greet people when they return.

Disneyland in California is currently shut down thanks to the coronavirus. Disney World in Florida is open, but with cases surging across the country, attendance likely isn’t what it used to be.

But Disney is still planning for a time after this crisis is over when people will be going to theme parks again, and when they do, they’re going to be greeted with some very cool new attractions. The company showed off a few at the virtual edition of the IAAPA Expo, a conference all about theme parks.

So what’s in store for the theme park enthusiasts of the future? One of the most high-profile attractions has to be Galactic Starcruiser, a full-service, immersive Star Wars hotel where visitors will spend two days and two nights cruising the galaxy, making stops at places like the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu. We now finally have a look inside the cabins:

Meanwhile, Disney also showed off sneak peaks at the Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind roller coaster, which will have a home at Epcot in Florida. The vehicles here aren’t just on a track; they also rotate 360 degrees around and can do a “reverse launch.” Disney is inventing whole new ways to be dizzy:

We also got a look at Web Slingers, the Spider-Man-themed ride that will open on the in-construction Avengers Campus in California and Disneyland Paris, although it’s just a shot of Spider-Man sailing overhead, with little indication of what the ride itself will be like:

There are other attractions coming: like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, based on the Pixar movie; and Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, which will feature one of the largest collections of Marvel artwork in the world (that one will be in Paris).

We all have a while to wait before it’s safe to go to theme parks again. But it’s going to be a reunion to remember.

Next. Universal: We’re “not done” building the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. dark
