The Mandalorian has a “Game of Thrones coffee cup” moment

Watching the new episode of The Mandalorian, fans find something in the background that definitely shouldn’t be there. Whoops!

It was the slurp heard round the world: last year, fans were watching the final season of Game of Thrones when they noticed a coffee cup on the table during a celebratory feast at Winterfell. Starbucks stores not being common in Westeros, this was obviously a goof-em-up behind the scenes:

The cup was immediately digitally removed, but it caused a stir, even though the reality is that little oopsies like this happen all the time in TV and movies. What do you expect? A set involves involves hundreds — maybe even thousands — of people all frantically pulling at creative machinery to create an imagined world; stuff slips through. For example, ever notice the guy in jeans and a tee-shirt walking around 1936 Egypt in Raiders of the Lost ArcEntertainment Weekly did:

The difference is that now, anyone who finds these inconsistencies can blow them up on social media and make a thing out of it. And indeed, fans have found a whoopsie in today’s new episode of The Mandalorian, which saw Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) reunite with his pals Cara Dune (Gina Carano) and Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) for “The Siege.”

Where’s the error? Take a look at this shot below:

We meet again, guy in jeans and tee-shirt.

What’s a little wild about this one is that the unidentified crew member doesn’t just appear in the background of this shot from the episode; Disney sent this pic out as one of its promotional images, so it was all but inevitable that fans would find this guy, who I am naming Waldo.

“The Siege” was directed by Carl Weathers, who also plays Greef Karga. He has his back turned to Waldo in this shot, which might explain how he missed him. In any case, I’m sure Waldo will be scrubbed from the show soon enough. But he’ll be back; we just have to find him.

Next. Katee Sackhoff cried when she saw herself as Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian. dark
