All told, Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings show will have at LEAST 35 cast members with important roles. They’re getting ready for something big.

Amazon is hard at work making a show based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, and the cast just got a whole lot bigger: 20 actors bigger, to be exact. Amazon released a press release full of headshots this morning.

Let’s meet the newcomers. And to stop you before you get too excited, no, Amazon doesn’t reveal who they’re playing, but you’re free to guess based on the pictures! And keep in mind that the show is set during the Second Age of Middle-earth, long before characters like Frodo and Bilbo were born, back when the elves were still on the continent in greater numbers, when the isle of Númenor, and when Sauron was busy forging the rings of power.

And this is on top of the 15 cast members the show already announced: Robert Aramayo (Young Ned Stark on Game of Thrones), Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark (who’s playing a young(er) Galadriel), Ismael Cruz Cordova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle (Benjen Stark on Game of Thrones), Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers and Daniel Weyman.

So that’s a grand total of 35 cast members for this show, all of whom are important enough for Amazon to release headshots and biographies. Clearly, Amazon wants to go big with this. We still have no idea what the show is actually about, but it’s going to take a lot of characters to tell whatever story they have cooked up.
