Doctor Who news: Multi-Doctor novel Time Lord Victorious: All Flesh is Grass is out now!
By James Aggas
Three Doctors clash against their past and their future, in the new Doctor Who novel All Flesh is Grass. But who will emerge as the Time Lord Victorious?
Today sees the release of an exciting new multi-Doctor story. All Flesh is Grass – the second Doctor Who novel in the huge multi-platform event Time Lord Victorious – is out now, and features the Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Doctors. But this time, are they on the same side?
Una McCormack’s novel looks set to be the biggest story released for the event yet. It’s something that’s been building up for a while. If not since when Time Lord Victorious was first announced – when we knew at the very least that somehow, the Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Doctors were involved – then certainly since the release of The Knight, The Fool and The Dead.
Steve Cole’s novel not only revealed the Tenth Doctor’s role in the event (which, as you can imagine, is practically central to it). It also directly sets up the new novel in a pretty big way. We’ve found out how the Eighth and Ninth Doctors got to this point (the former with The Enemy of My Enemy, the latter with Monstrous Beauty). Now it’s time to find out what happens next for all three incarnations.
Doctor versus Doctors?
"In All Flesh is Grass we are transported back to The Dark Times. The Tenth Doctor has sworn to stop the Kotturuh, ending death and bringing life to the universe. But his plan is unravelling – instead of bringing life, nothing has changed and all around him people are dying. Death is everywhere. Now he must confront his former selves – one in league with their greatest nemesis and the other manning a ship of the undead."
The very concept of Ten having to face his previous selves is an exciting one. We haven’t exactly had many “Doctor versus Doctor” stories. Which, considering that they’re simply past/future versions of each other, does make sense.

However, there have been one or two instances of this kind of story. In fact, just last year, we had Daughter of the Gods, an audio release from Big Finish where the First and Second Doctors clashed over the fate of a companion. Neither one was the villain, but each of them had a clear point of view that you could empathize with. One wanted to save his companion, while Two was thinking of the bigger picture.
All Flesh is Grass looks set to feature a similarly exciting clash between its three Doctors. How far will Ten go as the Time Lord Victorious? How far will his two previous selves go to stop him? We can’t wait to find out.
You can purchase All Flesh is Grass right now in the UK in hardback and ebook. In North America, the physical edition won’t be released until Jan 26, but you can purchase and download it as an ebook right now from Amazon.
