Syrio Forel actor giving water-dancing lessons online
By Dan Selcke
Con of Thrones 2020 may have been cancelled thanks to COVID, but you can still learn to fight like Arya Stark online, straight from the man who taught her.
Con of Thrones is the biggest celebration of Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire in the world, a con where the stars, crew members, and fans gather to discuss their favorite series. It’s happened annually for a couple years now and it’s always been a blast…until this year, when it was cancelled like every other major event thanks to the coronavirus.
Con of Thrones is coming back this August, with folks like Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont), Anton Lesser (Qyburn) and others already confirmed to be in attendance. Miltos Yerolemou, who played Syrio Forel in the show’s first season, will also be there. He’s a staple at these and other events thanks to his water dancing workshops, where he teaches fans how to fight like Arya Stark.
And if folks can’t wait for Con of Thrones 2021 for these lessons, organizers Mischief Management have just announced that Yerolemou will be giving virtual water dancing lessons starting in January, with tickets on sale at the Con of Thrones website starting today!
Fans have a couple of different options for lessons:
Large Group Workshop — January 16, 2021, 1:00 PM EST
The large group workshop will be held webinar-style, with Miltos providing instruction for about 40 minutes, followed by an approximately 20-minute Q&A with participants. Price: $25
Small Group Workshop — January 23, 2021, 1:00 PM EST
The small group workshop is limited to ten participants and will be an hour-long group call, most similar to in-person Water Dancing Workshops. All participants are encouraged to join via video to get the most out of their experience. Price: $50
One-on-One Workshop — Mid to Late January
One-on-one participants will get the ultimate experience, learning from Miltos himself in this hour-long individual workshop. Participants will also receive a recording of the session after its conclusion. Price: $100
Remember, con goers, this is not the iron dance of Westeros we are learning, the knight’s dance, hacking and hammering, no. This is the bravo’s dance, the water dance, swift and sudden. All men are made of water, do you know this? When you pierce them, the water leaks out and they die.
