The Mandalorian season 2 finale

Boba Fett, criminal overlord

After the end of the episode, we get a post-credits scene, a first for The Mandalorian.

After Grogu’s rescue, Boba Fett and Fennec Shand return to Tatooine to visit Jabba’s old palace. There they find Jabba’s former chief steward, Bib Fortuna, running the place. He has a couple of servants and slaves, and his appearance has changed dramatically since we last saw him in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

Fennec enters Jabba’s iconic throne room first and kills mostly everyone, and frees Fortuna’s slave. She leaves the Twi’lek alive for Boba to kill himself. The look of horror on Fortuna’s face before Boba shoots him almost makes me feel bad for him. I’d be terrified and nervously laughing if Boba pointed a blaster in my face too.

Boba throws Fortuna’s body off the throne and takes a seat as his new theme song swells. Then, we get the announcement of the new Boba Fett show, The Book of Boba Fett, coming December 2021.

What does this mean, though? How will this play into future seasons of The Mandalorian? The Hutt’s were gangsters who organized a galactic crime syndicate from the palace on Tatooine. With Boba taking Jabba’s old throne, he now has control over the galactic underworld.

We reckon this new show will let us see Boba’s adventures as a newly established crime lord. While this will be an exciting new direction for the Star Wars universe, we wonder if this will affect upcoming seasons of The Mandalorian. Does this mean Mando could go toe-to-toe with Boba if he crosses the line? Will Mando be able to call on Boba for some favors in the future? Only time will tell, but we’re excited about the possibilities!

Does it feel good to be a gangster, Boba?
