A full choir and orchestra mash up a Christmas classic with the theme song to Game of Thrones, and the results are magical!

2020 is a year unlike any other most of us have lived through, but it doesn’t mean people are going to stop engaging in traditions, especially around the holidays. They just might be tweaked a little.

For example, this choir put on its annual Christmas concert, but with masks and full social distancing. And we’re glad they did, because they performed an absolutely killer mashup of classic Christmas song “Carol of the Bells” with the Game of Thrones theme song! Check it out below:

Those songs sound like they were made for each other!

Of course, covering the Game of Thrones theme song is a time-honored tradition in and of itself, with people still coming up with new ways to do it. It’s been played on dozens of instruments, whether it’s on classic acoustic guitar…

…electric guitar…

…piano…

…or Irish bouzouki:

And of course, there are plenty of other great Game of Thrones songs worth covering, like Lannister theme “The Rains of Castamere,” here given the classical guitar treatment:

Wanna make “The Rains of Castamere” sound even creepier than it already is? Have a couple of kids sing it:

“Light of the Seven,” the song that plays over Cersei Lannister’s destruction of the Sept of Baelor, is a popular song for cover artists, especially piano players:

This same musician also covered “The Night King,” the showstopping piece from “The Long Night” in season 8:

One artist liked the songs so much she mashed them together!

And why stop there? Here’s a full Game of Thrones song medley:

Finally, Divino Dayacap plays several instruments and sings on a haunting rendition of “Jenny of Oldstones” from the show’s final season:

The amount of talent on YouTube never ceases to amaze.

Thanks to all of these artists for filling this and every other season with great music, and thanks to Ramin Djawadi for writing tunes that will be remembered for a long time to come.
