Pedro Pascal compares Game of Thrones, Mandalorian and Wonder Woman fans

Pedro Pascal has been in a lot of high-profiles franchises, and interacted with a lot of passionate fandoms. This is his story.

Fandoms are a healthy part of any franchise, and Pedro Pascal is familiar with a few. Since his breakout role as Oberyn Martell on Game of Thrones, his acting career has exploded with roles in some of the world’s biggest franchises, including as the title character in The Mandalorian and as villain Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984. He’s quickly becoming a Hollywood golden boy!

And in that time he’s met his share of passionate fans. “My first introduction to some serious fans was Game of Thrones,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I was doing a play in New York when the episodes that I was in were airing, and I gradually started to get noticed in my regular New York routine on the train drinking my coffee.”

Next up, Pascal traveled to a galaxy far, far, away to play Din Djarin in The Mandalorian. We don’t need to remind you how popular this show is, but just to make sure we’re all on the same page, Parrot Analytics determined that it was the most in-demand streaming show in the U.S. for 2020! Din is now probably Pascal’s best-known role, although he wears a helmet that covers his face for most of it.

Pascal first encountered the Star Wars fandom when The Mandalorian cast was announced at the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. “I remember stepping out onto that stage and it was like being on the receiving end of a jet. It was just awash of like cheer and I thought, ‘I could get used to this.'”

Unfortunately, Pascal gave this interview before Wonder Woman 1984 came out, but I’m sure he’s gotten an earful from those fans now, too. By now, he should know vaguely what to expect.

Fun fact: Wonder Woman 1984 isn’t the first time Pascal was involved with a Wonder Woman project. He was part of NBC’s ill-fated Wonder Woman TV show back in 2011, where he played Ed Indelicato. The show didn’t get off the ground, but second time’s the charm.
