Shadow Moon wants out, but the old gods keep pulling him back in. Watch this clip from the season 3 premiere of American Gods, coming soon!
New year, new season of American Gods! The show has endured a fair amount of drama getting here, but new episodes are finally on the way.
For two seasons now, we’ve been building up to a war between the old gods and the new, but one person trying to keep as far away from it all as possible is Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle), who’s trying to start over in a town called Lakeside. STARZ released a sneak peek of the season 3 premiere, “A Winter’s Tale,” which shows how unlikely that is to happen. Now going by the name Mike Ainsel, Shadow tries to ehlp out an elderly woman, and ends up reminded that he can never escape the grip of the old gods.
“Following his discovery last season that Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane) is his father, Shadow attempts to break away and assert himself as his own man,” reads the official synopsis. “As he settles into life in Lakeside, he uncovers a dark secret while exploring questions of his own divinity. Guided on this spiritual journey by the gods of his black ancestors, the Orishas, Shadow must decide exactly who he is — a god seeking veneration or a man in service of the ‘we.'”
Whittle and McShane will return for season 3, along with Emily Browning (Laura Moon), Yetide Badaki (Bilquis), Bruce Langley (Technical Boy), Omid Abtahi (Salim), Ashley Reyes (Cordelia), Crispin Glover (Mr. World), Demore Barnes (Mr. Ibis), Devery Jacobs (Sam Black Crow), and Blythe Danner (Demeter). There are also lots of newcomers on the way, including Marilyn Manson (yes, that one) as Johan Wengren, Iwan Rheon as Liam Doyle, Danny Trejo as World, Denis O’Hare as Tyr, and many more.
As we anxiously await the season 3 premiere, check out the official trailer below!
