After many delays, it looks like Marvel’s Avengers Campus is opening at Disney California Adventure Park later this year.

Marvel’s Avengers Campus is a new, Marvel-themed area that will feature at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California. It’s been under construction for the last couple of years, but it looks like it will finally debut in 2021.

According to The O.C. Register, members of the official Disney D23 were recently notified of these plans. The Avengers Campus was originally going to open in July of 2020, but got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Indeed, this news comes at an odd time, since theme parks everywhere have been shuttered or operating at reduced capacity these past several months, with Disney’s parks being no exception. Disney’s California Adventure Park has been closed since April 2020.

We still don’t know the exactly date when the Avengers Campus will open, but I’d bet on the latter half of the year. Currently, California is dealing with a rising number of COVID-19 cases, so the park opening back up in the next month or two is highly unlikely.

Before COVID hit, visitors to Disneyland could see what the Avengers Campus looked like under construction, and as one of them, I must admit it looked epic, and far more interesting that the Bug’s Life Land.

We have yet to get a glimpse of what this new addition to California Adventure will look like, but from what we do know, guests will be able to participate in an immersive Spider-Man ride (Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure), chow down on Ant-Man-inspired food at Pym’s Test Kitchen, attend a Doctor Strange special effects show, and even snap photos with some of the Avengers.

And to think, this is only the first phase of the Avengers Campus opening! There’s plenty more to come in the future, and given how much attention Disney lavishes on its parks, we imagine it’ll be pretty impressive.

Meanwhile, a couple of the Avengers are getting their very own Disney+ show in the form of WandaVision, which premieres next Friday, on January 15! And according to a listing from France’s myCanal streaming service, it sounds like it could be a double event:

Translated, the message says, “Two episodes available from Friday the 15th.” It looks like Disney is ready to kick off this new era of Marvel TV shows with a bang!
