Critical response to WandaVision has been overwhelmingly positive, with people salivating over this bold new entry into the MCU.

WandaVision, the first-ever live action TV show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, drops this Friday on Disney+. The show sees Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) apparently living in some kind of sitcom-inspired sideways reality, although not all is as quiet and peaceful as it appears. I mean, Vision is dead, right? Just what is going on here?

Fans are incredibly excited to see this fresh, strange, fun, radical new take on the superhero genre. And if the critical reception is anything to go by, they won’t be disappointed. Critics haven’t put out their written reviews yet, but their Twitter takes are practically salivating. And better yet, they’re SPOILER-FREE!

First up, Steven Weintraub of Collider praises MCU boss Kevin Feige for his willingness to let WandaVision take the franchise into new territory:

Next, Brandon Davis from ComicBook.com called the show it “unlike” anything the MCU has ever released. He also praises the show’s commitment to it’s bold sitcom angle:

Yahoo Entertainment’s Kevin Polowy hails WandaVision as one of the “weirdest” things Marvel has ever done, although we already knew that from the trailers alone. To hear that it has lots of ambition is tremendous, as well:

Looks like WandaVision is a hit! Was it ever in any doubt?

While this all sounds fantastic, we’re eager to watch and weigh in on the show ourselves. Critic opinion doesn’t always reflect fan response. For example, early reviews of Wonder Woman 1984 praised the movie a lot, but once it released many fans were left disappointed.

WandaVision is the first of many Marvel Cinematic Universe-set TV shows coming to Disney+. So far, it looks to have set the bar very high. Hopefully, upcoming shows The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki can follow in its footsteps.
