The Netflix juggernaut hit Stranger Things tops a list of the most streamed soundtracks on Spotify, with nearly 90 million streams per song!
The Stranger Things soundtrack tops a list of the most popular Netflix soundtracks on Spotify, according to a recent survey of almost 3,500 people conducted by OnBuy.com.
Just how popular is the ’80s synth-heavy soundtrack by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein? Apparently, the Stranger Things playlist had close to 250,000 subscribers, with each song averaging over 87 million streams. That’s an incredibly impressive number, but it’s not surprising given the show’s massive fan base, made up of both adults and kids. Also, there are plenty of ’80s tunes to enjoy along with the original tracks.
13 Reasons Why came in at the No. 2 spot, with each song receiving close to 60 million streams on average. After that came Black Mirror, which got 49 million streams per song. Other honorees include Sex Education, Orange is the New Black, Peaky Blinders, The Crown and The Queen’s Gambit.
This survey suggests that music and song selections are yet another key aspect to building a successful series. Streaming data for the soundtrack is just as important as views, in many ways, and views and music streams go hand in hand to drive a show’s popularity and ensure that it lives on beyond the show’s original run.
