The third Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland is going to be drowning in guest stars, and each is more surprising than the last.

Tom Holland’s third Spider-Man movie is going to be something else. We already know that it’s going to include a lot of characters from the franchise’s past, and not just the last two movies: actors who starred in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy from the 2000s are reported to be showing up, including Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus and (probably) Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. And we’re getting appearances from the cast of the more recent Amazing Spider-Man movies, including Andrew Garfield as the title character, Jamie Foxx as Electro and (probably) Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey.

Apparently, the whole movie is going to go big on the whole multiverse angle, with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) kickings things into gear. But the fun won’t stop there. We’ve also heard that Charlie Cox, the star of Marvel’s Netflix show Daredevil, will turn up.

That would be a big deal, because Daredevil and its Netflix brethren were cancelled a while back, to the despair of their many fans. But MCU boss Kevin Feige doesn’t like to close any doors forever. “Everything is on the board,” he told The Hollywood Reporter when they asked about the fate of the Marvel characters. “That’s one of the fun things about the comics is that characters would appear and disappear and come and go. All of it is inspiration for the future. There are some great characters and actors from those shows.”

And now, ComicBook.com is reporting that Cox has already been on the set of Spider-Man 3 as Daredevil/Matt Murdock. According to Hollywood sleuth Grace Randolph, he’ll play Peter Parker’s lawyer in the movie, so on top of all the dimension-hopping shenannigans, apparently Spider-Man will also be in legal trouble; guy can’t catch a break.

Although we’re not sure of anything yet, assuming Cox does indeed show up, I assume his Daredevil will be part of the MCU we know and love, rather than meeting Peter in some alternate universe. The Netflix shows always maintained a respectful distance from the rest of the MCU, but technically they were happening in the same space. Now that the rights have reverted to Disney, maybe the company can start pulling it all together.

Spider-Man 3: Subtitle Featuring The Word “Home” Forthcoming is scheduled to come out on December 17, 2021. Are we all used to it being 2021 yet?
