Before he was Batman, Ben Affleck had a chance to work with Marvel’s Kevin Feige on 2003’s Daredevil, and he has nothing but praise for MCU boss.

Ben Affleck has a lot of experience bringing superheroes to life. He’s one of the few actors who has appeared as a DC Comics superhero and a Marvel hero, and after his experience working with Kevin Feige in 2003’s Daredevil, he has lots of praise for the Marvel Studios boss.

Affleck is a successful actor, director and producer. He’s worn many hats over the course of his career, so he understands what it takes to rise to the top of a profession. During a recent appearance on THR’s Awards Chatter Podcast, he called Feige “the greatest producer, most successful producer who’s ever lived.”

"He’s like a master ringmaster. He knows exactly how much to wink at the audience, exactly when to pull at the heartstrings, exactly when to do VFX, how many jokes, what the sensibility, what the tone is. Because people didn’t know if they should run away from the pajamas or embrace it or make it serious."

From Iron Man to Avengers: Endgame, it’s true that Feige does seem to have an uncanny knack for producing universally beloved movies. Marvel Studios has avoided the missteps of their rivals over at Warner Bros., who produce the DC superhero movies. With plans for several new movies and shows coming in Phase 4 and Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s no sign of burnout from the fans, which is almost unheard of in Hollywood these days, where excess is the norm. No matter how much content Marvel releases, the fans are always eager for more. And as WandaVision on Disney+ shows, they’re willing to experience and try new things even as they hold it all together.

The big difference, as Affleck says, is that Feige understands the audience so well that everything Marvel does hits the mark.

Though his Daredevil days are over, Affleck has been involved in reshoots for the highly anticipated Zack Snyder’s Justice League, aka the Snyder Cut, coming in March. The timing of Affleck’s comments are interesting given that there was so much tension surrounding the original Justice League film and its tepid reception. The Snyder Cut should fix that, and it will very likely help to grease the skids for upcoming DCEU projects as well.

Could Affleck return to the wide world of Marvel to work with Feige again in the future? These days, never say never.
