Matt Damon will return to Thor series for Love and Thunder
Did you recognize Matt Damon pop up in Thor: Raganrok? Well, whoever he played will be back in the next movie, Thor: Love and Thunder.
Along with poignant storylines and epic special effects, Marvel movies are known for their amazing casting choices. A prime example of this is the third Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok, which is one of my all-time favorites from the franchise. Cate Blanchett gave a terrifying performance as Hela, the Goddess of Death and as Thor’s formerly unknown older sister. Tessa Thompson, who played Valkyrie, was also a great addition.
Now, The A.V. Club reports that Matt Damon will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, again directed by acclaimed filmmaker Taika Waititi. Eagle-eyed fans may remember that Damon also appeared in Thor: Ragnarok, playing an actor playing Loki in a theatrical performance put on by the real Loki, who was posing as Thor’s father Odin at the time…it had layers. Naturally, the performance paints Loki in very positive light:
The scene itself is so good that you may not even notice Matt Damon is playing Loki at first sight, and once you do, it’s even more hilarious. I suppose Damon’s actor character will return. Maybe Valkyrie will be watching a new production about the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame?
In other Thor-related news, it sounds like Karen Gillen will reprise her role as Nebula in Love and Thunder. Especially after the events of Avengers: Endgame, I’m excited to see how her character arc continues.
