The season 2 finale of The Mandalorian brought us one of the most memorable moments from the entire show. It came when a younger version of Luke Skywalker arrived on Moff Gideon’s ship to save our team.

Now, according to Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda), it’s the MCU’s turn to treat fans to a surprising cameo on WandaVision. Speaking recently to TV Line, Olsen was asked whether there was anything similar to The Mandalorian‘s cameo in store. “Yes,” she said, followed by an ominous-sounding, “I’m really excited.” Talk about playing it coy. At least she didn’t spoil anything.

WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer offered a little more on what could go down in upcoming episodes, teasing more than just one epic moment. “There are so many surprises left in store,” he said. “I encourage all fans to settle in, because there’s more coming.”

What Marvel character will make a surprise cameo on WandaVision?

So who’s turning up? There are two candidates popular among fans. First, there’s Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), who is returning to the big screen for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022. There have been hints that WandaVision will lead into that movie, so perhaps the show will do some setup.

Secondly and slightly more unlikely is Pietro Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), aka Quicksilver. Pietro has already been mentioned in WandaVision. Since he’s Wanda’s brother, it makes a lot of sense to see him appear in the show. The only problem is that he died in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but dying didn’t stop Vision from having a starring role in this show, so it should be too big a problem for Pietro.

In an interview with ComicBook, Schaeffer explained the process of connecting TV shows to movies:

"There’s communication and it’s all overseen by Marvel, by Kevin [Feige] and the other phenomenal producers there. Yeah, I mean I can’t talk about the details of it but every creative on every show knows what they need to know in order to make sure we all connect in a way that works."

Needless to say, thousands of fans have flocked to Twitter and shared their ideas. Let’s take a look at a few of them:

The season finale of WandaVision is due to air on March 5 on Disney+. If Olsen’s words are true, we’ll be meeting this mysterious character at some point between now and then. As you can tell, a lot of names have been thrown into the mix. It’ll have to be pretty big to at least equal the hype that Luke Skywalker brought to The Mandalorian. But once again, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
