Rupert Grint is best known for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, but the actor has continued building a name for himself since then. He’s appeared on series like Sick Note, Snatch, and The ABC Murders, and currently plays Julian Pierce on M. Night Shyamalan’s Apple TV+ series Servant.

“He’s got this kind of messiah presence and also, he’s such a nice guy,” Grint told Variety about The Sixth Sense director.” He knows everybody’s name. He takes the same crew to all of his projects. They all personally know him and have stories about what a kind and warm person he is. He’s got this real kind of energy. His notes are incredible. The way he works is so minimalist, but he’s a dream. Most of his scenes he can do in one or two shots.”

In Servant, Grint’s character is dealing with a sister who insists her therapy doll is a real replacement for her lost child. It’s an interesting story to say the least.

What does Rupert Grint think of the possible HBO Max Harry Potter show?

Grint also touched on his own plans for the future, which he emphasized won’t include directing. They also aren’t likely to feature a return to his roots as Ron Weasley. Lately there have been reports of a Harry Potter TV series at HBO Max, but the actor said he can’t see himself being involved.

"It’ll be weird if it was a continuation kind of thing. I weirdly feel quite protective of that character. Even when I saw the stage shows, it was a very strange experience. … If it’s like a different group of friends, I guess it would be interesting."

By “the stage shows,” he’s referring to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which was playing for years before the pandemic shut down live theaters. Admittedly, it’s hard to think of anyone other than Grint playing Ron Weasley, so hopefully he’s right about any new story following a different set of characters. And he’s not the only actor who doesn’t see the original cast reuniting; Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) has expressed a similar sentiment.

Although Grint won’t be returning to the Wizarding World as Ron Weasley, he may take a journey there as a viewer. According to the actor, he hasn’t made the effort to watch any of the films beyond The Prisoner of Azkaban, but the birth of his daughter last year may eventually persuade him to return to the magic.

“I’ve probably seen the first three at the premieres, but after that I stopped watching them,” he said. “But now that I have a daughter, I will probably have to watch them with her.”

Does it get much more adorable than that?
