Don Cheadle has revealed his character War Machine is set to appear in the upcoming Disney+ show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

As if we needed any more reasons to watch The Falcon and the Winter Soldier…The forthcoming Disney+ show revolves around Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s titular characters, with appearances from other Marvel standbys like Helmut Zemo (Daniel Bruhl), Agent Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) and Georges Batroc (Georges St-Pierre).

Speaking on BroBible‘s Post-Credit Podcast, Don Cheadle revealed that Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes — aka War Machine — will also turn up. The acclaimed actor of Ocean’s 12 and Out of Sight fame was talking about his own upcoming MCU spin-off Armor Wars — one of just many Marvel shows on the way — when he dropped this tasty nugget.

“That’s some of the fun of the MCU, that we all get to show up in each other’s stories, and there are ways that we’re cross-platforming these characters,” Cheadle said. “And they become storylines, sometimes, in the movies. And then these storylines in the movies become storylines in the shows.”

"It’s really fun and interesting and, by all imagination, completely open-ended — this can go anywhere. It’s great, I can’t wait to get in the room with the writers and figure out how all those things [connecting Armor Wars to the MCU] happen. You know, Rhodey shows up in Winter Soldier and Falcon’s show. So, it can be a lot."

With Iron Man now gone and War Machine the next closest thing, it makes sense that Rhodey would step into the metal boots vacated by Tony Stark. As a military man, he could also fill in for Captain America. Indeed, the question of how replaces Captain America now that Steve Rogers is retired is at the heart of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

We wait with bated breath to see how Cheadle will fit into Falcon and how it will set up Armor Wars. Look out for the premiere of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on March 19 on Disney+.
