Watch the trailer for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and more stuff
By Dan Selcke
Yesterday’s Super Bowl LV was a blowout for the Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but if the game itself didn’t have much tension, maybe we can find some excitement in all the new commercials, starting with a proper trailer for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the next Marvel series to drop on Disney+ after WandaVision wraps up:
While WandaVision has a puzzlebox narrative, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier looks far more straightforward, and will look at the fallout from Captain America’s retirement, with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) both in line to take up his shield. And also there will be a lot of buddy cop-like shenanigans.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier kicks off on Disney+ on March 19.
The Super Bowl also brought us looks at Raya and the Last Dragon, F9 and…Timothée Chalamet as Edward Scissorhands
And that was far from the only trick Disney had up its sleeve during the game. It also released a new trailer for its next big animated feature, Raya and the Last Dragon:
Raya and the Last Dragon will be out on Disney+ (for an extra fee) on March 5.
Meanwhile, Universal dropped the trailer for F9, the ninth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, which looks more high-octane than ever:
That one is dropping into theaters on May 28, after being delayed a year thanks to the coronavirus.
And there are just some plain old nerdy commercials of interest too! For example, Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins) talked to some Lord of the Rings superfans for AT&T:
Finally, Winona Ryder stepped back into the role she played in Tim Burton’s 1990 classic Edward Scissorhands, with Timothée Chalamet now playing the title character instead of Johnny Depp. Obviously it’s a Cadillac commercial:
Game on. Or over.
