Tom Felton (Draco) reveals his grandpa had a cameo in the Harry Potter films

It turns out Harry Potter runs in Tom Felton’s family. The actor who played Draco Malfoy in the movie series has been on quite the Harry Potter binge lately, rewatching the films on TikTok and Instagram. He’s in full-fledged nostalgia mode and we’re right there with him.

While rewatching the very first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Felton revealed that his grandpa, Nigel Anstey, actually had a cameo in it. “That’s my grandpa again!” he enthused. “The guy with the beard. White beard! Huge beard right next to Lee Jordan. And there’s me again It’s a family thing, mental! Mental!”

Who did Tom Felton’s grandpa play in Harry Potter?

Anstey had a nonspeaking role in the very first film as an unnamed Hogwarts professor. Above, you can see him next to Lee Jordan (Luke Youngblood) during a Quidditch game.

While Felton’s maternal grandfather busted out his acting chops for a brief moment, his day job was as a geophysicist. Pretty cool, huh?

With all this nostalgia, one has to wonder if Felton would consider ever returning to the franchise in some capacity. Rumors of a Harry Potter series on HBO Max have been making the rounds lately, and the property is still very popular all these years later, so there may be opportunities.

After all, about a year ago he did say that he would return for a reboot if he could play his character’s father, Lucius Malfoy. So, you never know!

Until there is more news on that front, here’s a video of Felton taking a trip down memory lane, alongside a bunch of fans watching with him:
