Pedro Pascal is playing Joel’s in HBO’s TV adaptation of The Last of Us. Is he already teasing the tagline of the upcoming zombie series?

Last week, we learned that The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell on Game of Thrones) had landed the lead role in HBO’s adaptation of Naughty Dog’s beloved video game The Last of Us. He’ll play Joel, a hard-bitten survivor charged with escorting the young Ellie across a United States ravaged by a zombie apocalypse; Ellie is immune to the mutant fungus that has infected the world, and Joel must get her to a medical facility where she can be studied so scientists can develop a cure.

Ellie is played by Bella Ramsey, who played Lyanna Mormont on Game of Thrones, meaning we have a GoT reunion on our hands. But we have a while to go before we see them in character together. In the meantime, Pascal is talking the show up on his social media, captain both Twitter and Instagram posts with the same line:

“No matter what, you keep finding something to fight for.” That’s a line from the first Last of Us game (there are two out so far). Joel tells it to Ellie when she’s having an understandably difficult time coming to grips with living in a world where everyone she knows tends to die horrible deaths. The full line is a little longer:

"I struggled for a long time with survivin’, and no matter what, you keep finding something to fight for."

With Pascal pushing that quote all over his socials, I wonder if it’s going to be the official tagline for the show. It’s one of the famous quotes from the game, so it would make sense.

Now that the cast is announced, hopefully we’ll be getting more marketing materials on the show soon.
