Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page will appear in the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie alongside Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith.

Move over, Lady Whistledown! The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page (Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings) will appear alongside Chris Pine in an upcoming film based on the fantasy role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.

Produced by Paramount and eOne, the film is set to be directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. The Fast and the Furious actress Michelle Rodriguez and Detective Pikachu actor Justice Smith have also been cast in the fantasy flick.

Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop game that allows players to dive into a mystical world where they can go on quests, enjoy camaraderie, conquer foes, and contend with the hands of fate. I’ve never played it myself, mostly because I wouldn’t know where to begin putting a campaign together. (I do, however, have an awesome character idea ready for whenever that day comes.) A movie version of the game is certainly intriguing, with the various monsters, people and places from the game giving filmmakers plenty to work with.

Chris Pine has proven himself a versatile actor with roles like Prince Charming in Into the Woods and Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman, and since we’re talking about fantasy films here, I would be remiss not to mention his stellar performance in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, which was written by Bridgerton producer Shonda Rhimes.

Regé-Jean Page, meanwhile, was easily one of the best actors on Bridgerton and I’m excited to see what kind of role he plays in the D&D movie. Since the game includes human characters as well as a myriad of mythical creatures with various classes and distinctions, the possibilities are basically endless!

If you’ve never before played Dungeons & Dragons, then you can watch the video below to get a firmer grasp of what the game is all about.

Let’s roll the dice and see how this film goes.
