Marvel is determined to dominate 2021, and so far, they’re doing a pretty good job. WandaVision, the first live-action TV series set in the MCU, is currently fascinating audiences around the world. That one airs its final episode on Friday, March 5. Then we get a week off before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier airs its six episodes starting on Friday, March 19, meaning it’ll end on April 23. Then we have the (hopeful) premiere of Black Widow on May 7. And now, Disney has revealed that Loki, a solo series all about the god of mischief as played by Tom Hiddleston, will kick off on June 11, on Disney+.
The series will pick up with Loki after he makes off with the Space Stone during Avengers: Endgame. This isn’t actually the Loki we’re familiar with from the MCU; Thanos killed that one in Avengers: Infinity War. This one’s from an alternate timeline, before he tempered his mischievous ways a bit.
What is Marvel’s Loki series about?
We don’t know a ton about the plot, but we know it’s pretty out there. After stealing the Space Stone and zapping himself away, Loki ends up at the Time Variance Authority, a group tasked with maintaining the equilibrium of the multiverse. Working with Owen Wilson’s character Mobius M. Mobius, it looks like he’ll be visiting different times and places in order to…well, that’s what we’re waiting to figure out.
And may I remind you that after Loki, Marvel is still going to put out the MCU series Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel and What If…? series on Disney+, not to mention releasing the movies Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings the third Spider-Man film into theaters. Marvel may have taken 2020 off, but they’re back with a vengeance this time.
When does Bad Batch, Disney’s next Star Wars TV series, premiere?
And Disney has more than just new Marvel series to marvel at this year. It’ll also be releasing Bad Batch, an animated spin-off of Star Wars: The Clone Wars that will follow “a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army” as they make their way in the period after the Clone Wars.
There’s no trailer for Bad Batch yet, but it premieres on Disney+ on May 4, which is Star Wars Day. May the 4th be with you, geddit?
