The cast and crew of The Boys are back and better than ever. Production on season 3 has officially begun and we have the pictures to prove it.
Production on season 3 of The Boys has officially begun! The second season was so well done, with each episode more jaw-dropping than the last. Season 2 ended with Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) going their separate ways after being cleared of all charges.
Season 2 had plenty of shock value, and the final episode proved that viewers should always expect the unexpected. Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) accidentally killed Becca (Shantel VanSanten) in an effort to protect her from Stormfront (Aya Cash). Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) blackmailed Homelander into letting everyone escape unharmed, although the star-spangled superhero was left just as unhinged as ever, if not moreso. Also, the hidden villain who’s been making everyone’s heads telepathically explode was revealed to be Congresswoman Neuman (Claudia Doumit). The season concluded with Neuman hiring an unsuspecting Hughie to work on her campaign.
Fans will be happy to know that we are one step closer to seeing what happens next. As reported by SyFy Wire, showrunner Eric Kripke announced via Twitter that production on season 3 is underway:
Based on the eagle belt and the patriotic pose, it looks like we’re looking at a golden statue of Homelander.
But wait, there’s more! Karl Urban also posted on Instagram to commemorate the start of production. He’s looking devilishly handsome, as per usual:
The actors who play Hughie and Annie also took to social media to celebrate. They look like they’re having a great time working together again! Even if Hughie and Annie don’t end up in a relationship, I think Jack Quaid and Erin Moriarty have great onscreen chemistry.
We don’t have many details about the plot of the next season, but we do know that the season 3 premiere will be titled “Payback.”
Season 3 of The Boys is expected to air sometime in 2022. The first two seasons are currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
