While the past year has been difficult for all of us, one thing has helped to make things considerably easier for Doctor Who fans everywhere: Doctor Who Lockdown. Organized by Doctor Who Magazine’s Emily Cook, Doctor Who Lockdown has provided a fresh way for fans to rewatch and discuss their favorite episodes.

In the past, these watch parties have included much-loved stories such as “The Day of the Doctor,” “Vincent and the Doctor,” and “The Eleventh Hour,” to name a few. As well as watching and tweeting about the episodes themselves, fans have also enjoyed exciting new scenes, minisodes, and stories.

Sadly, as announced by Emily Cook on Twitter, these watchalongs will soon be coming to an end. However, it’s definitely going to end with a bang, as the final watch party will involve not one, not two, but three episodes! Yes, on Sunday February 28, fans will get to discuss and enjoy Series 3’s epic three-part finale, starring David Tennant as the Doctor and John Simm as the show’s greatest villain, the Master!

The Doctor Who Series 3 finale remains one of the show’s best moments

The Series 3 triple bill – which consists of episodes UtopiaThe Sound of Drums, and Last of the Time Lords – is a good choice as the final Doctor Who Lockdown story to watch. Not only does the three-part structure provide a lengthy watch for Whovians everywhere, but it’s also a major story. In addition to featuring the first on-screen appearance of the Master in over 10 years (his previous appearance had been in the 1996 TV movie starring Paul McGann), it also has one of the biggest shocks of the entire series. Because, while everyone was pretty confident that John Simm’s mysterious character of “Mr. Saxon” was really the Doctor’s oldest foe, no one could have predicted just how the character would be brought back. As a result, the major reveal in “Utopia” still holds up as one of the show’s most shocking and greatest moments.

Be sure to relive that moment yourself this Sunday, starting at 6:00 p.m. GMT with Utopia, continuing at 7:00 p.m. GMT with The Sound of Drums, and concluding with Last of the Time Lords at 8:00 p.m. GMT. To discuss the episode on Twitter, make sure to use the hashtag #YANA to join in.
