Despite rumors to the contrary, Emma Watson is not retiring from acting. Wands down, people.

The other day, Twitter was lit up with despondent fans crestfallen that Harry Potter veteran Emma Watson, Hermione Granger herself, was retiring from acting, this after a series of inspiring roles in movies like Beauty and the Beast and Little Women, where she played Belle and Meg March respectively. Watson has definitely carved out a successful post-Potter niche for herself, and it would indeed be sad for such a talent to leave the screen so young.

Only she’s not leaving. The rumor got started when The Daily Mail — a publication known for mistake and exaggeration, FYI — suggested that she’d be leaving acting to settle down with partner Leo Robinton. “Emma Watson has gone ‘dormant’ according to her agent,” reads the article. “That appears to be movie-speak for she’s ‘given up acting.'”

From there, it was a hop, skip and a jump to a social media freakout. But Entertainment Weekly talked to Jason Weinberg, Watson’s manager at Untitled Entertainment, who put people at ease. “Emma’s social media accounts are dormant but her career isn’t,” he said in a statement.

Well, that was an exciting 24 hours, wasn’t it?

Next. A Superman “reboot” movie is coming from J.J. Abrams. dark
