Game of Thrones alum Indira Varma joins Obi-Wan Kenobi show
By Dan Selcke
Indira Varma, who played the scheming Ellaria Sand on Game of Thrones, will join Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen in Disney’s Obi-Wan Kenobi show.
Disney has a hit on its hands with The Mandalorian, but it’s by no means done exhausting the possibilities of Star Wars on TV. The company has a ton of series set in that galaxy far, far away coming down the pipe, including one all about Obi-Wan Kenobi, with Ewan McGregor returning to the role after after nearly two decades away.
We don’t much about the show, except that it’ll be set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and that Hayden Christensen will also be back as Darth Vader. The gang’s all here!
But of course, two actors don’t make an ensemble. Now, Deadline reports that Indira Varma has joined the series in an unnamed role. Varma is a talented actor with lots of credits to her name, including Rome, Luther and Carnival Row, but Game of Thrones will remember her best as Ellaria Sand, paramour to Oberyn Martell and the scheming mother of the Sand Snakes of Dorne.
Will she play someone from Obi-Wan’s past? Will she be an entirely new character once he settles into his exile on Tatooine? We don’t know (if anyone has any ideas, feel free to leave them in the comments), but I’m sure the show will be better off with her talent.
