Lucifer star Tom Ellis cried during a read of one of the final episodes

Lucifer, a show about what happens after Satan abandons his throne in Hell to run a nightclub in Los Angeles, has had a long and twisty history. The show began life on Fox, was cancelled a few seasons in, was revived by Netflix after a push from its fervent fanbase, was going to end after season 5, and then got extended to six seasons so everything could be wrapped up nicely with room to spare. And now that the final season is officially on the way, things are getting emotional.

Showrunner Joe Henderson gave us the details on Twitter, writing about the table read for the show’s penultimate episode. “Today was the second to last #Lucifer table read… ever… if we got that emotional today, I’m terrified of how much I’m going to cry at the last one…”

It sounds like star Tom Ellis was right there with him. “I had something in my eye,” he wrote. “Honest.” Sure, Tom.

Incidentally, the second-to-last episode of the show is called “Goodbye Lucifer,” so we can only imagine what kind of heartstring-tugging content is in there. It’ll be directed by cast member Kevin Alejandro (Dan Espinoza).

Seems like everyone on the Lucifer set is getting emotional about the end

And Ellis isn’t the only Lucifer star getting up in their feelings about the end of the show. Lesley-Ann Brandt, who plays Lucifer’s right-hand woman Mazikeen, was feeling it during her final costume fitting for her character:

“My final wardrobe fitting for Mazikeen,” she wrote. “To say it was emotion, was and is an understatement.”

All this said, we have a while to go before we see Lucifer season 6. We still have several episodes of season 5 to get through, and we’re still not sure when they’ll air.

Next. Tom Cavanagh (Nash Wells) will return to The Flash this season. dark
