Rupert Grint is currently starring in Servant on Apple+, but if we’re being honest, we will always and forever know him as the goofy Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter franchise. But as memorable as those movies are for so many of us, making them could be difficult for the very young cast members.

During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert, Grint talked about what it was like to give a decade of his life to the franchise, and what that experience was truly like, and it wasn’t always rosy. “There was a time where it felt quite suffocating, because it was heavy going because it was every day for 10 years in the end.”

Despite the exhausting nature of his obligations, Grint has fond memories of his time as Ron Weasley, as do we.

"It was a great experience. Such a nice kind of family atmosphere. It was always the same crew we kind of grew up with, so it was a great place to be. […] It just never ended. Every year, we came back. And it was kind of like Groundhog Day because it was the same sets. It was the same people. But it was great. I loved it."

Of course, with any job, at some point, you’re ready to move on, even if the job is Harry Potter. Grint has wonderful memories of his experiences, but he was most certainly ready for something new by the end.

Rupert Grint has only watched the first Harry Potter film

He also revealed that of the Harry Potter movies, he’s only ever watched the first: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. He’s given that one multiple watches, but beyond that, he still feels like it’s “too soon” and that he can’t “detach” himself fully just yet.

And he’s not the only cast member who feels that way. Tom Felton, who played the bratty and evil Draco Malfoy, has admitted to not having watched most of the movies. He recently joined forces with Peacock and TikTok to host a fan watch party so he could watch the first film from start to finish for the very first time.

Crazy to think that the movies that changed the world haven’t been viewed in their entirety by the cast members themselves!
