Pedro Pascal gets on the phone for Apple TV+, Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) takes us back to World War II, and Gemma Whelan (Yara) goes back even further.

How’s this for quarantine content: director Fede Álvarez has made a new series called Calls, assembling an impressive cast that includes Rosario Dawson, Nick Jonas, Aubrey Plaza, Karen Gillan and Game of Thrones veteran Pedro Pascal. The catch is that none of them stepped in front of a camera: the series is entirely made up of phone calls played over dynamic backgrounds. Check out the trailer:

Clearly, these people are going through something. It’ll only be clear what at the end of the nine-episode season, with each episode running around 15 minutes.

Seems like a pretty innovative way to make a new show during lockdown. Calls premieres on Apple TV+ on March 19.

And now, an update on those trouble-making Greyjoy kids. According to the Radio Times, Alfie Allen (Theon) has joined the cast of a new BBC One show called SAS: Rogue Heroes. Based on Ben Macintyre’s book of the same name, it will tell the story of how the titular British special forces unit was formed during the darkest days of World War II.

SAS: Rogue Heroes comes from Steven Knight, who’s also behind the Netflix crime drama Peaky Blinders. In addition to Allen, the cast includes Sex Education star Connor Swindells, Skins veteran Jack O’Connell, Modern Love’s Sofia Boutella and The Wire veteran Dominic West as Lieutenant Colonel Wrangel Clarke.

Meanwhile, Gemma Whelan (Yara) has posted an image from behind the scenes of the second season of Gentleman Jack on HBO.

The first season of this period drama was really good, so I’m looking forward to this.
