An announcement about Outlander season 7 could be coming soon

Outlander fans are waiting for season 6, and they may have to endure the Droughtlander for quite a while longer. However, there could be some good news on the horizon. Speaking with Digital Spy, Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) hinted that an announcement about a seventh season may be on the way. “You might find out something very soon.”

This comment comes on the heels of Outlander creator Ron D. Moore talking to The Hollywood Reporter, where he revealed that “conversations are underway on both season seven and on a spinoff and I think we’re going to have good news on both those fronts before too long so I feel very optimistic about it.”

When Moore says “spin-off,” he’s likely referring to the rumored series about Lord John Grey, something many Outlander fans have been hoping to see. Outlander author Diana Gabaldon has already written novellas about him, so the source material is there. Also, actor David Berry’s performance as John Grey on Outlander won him a lot of fans, so it’s almost too perfect.

Here’s hoping we hear something about that soon!

When will Outlander season 6 premiere?

Filming is officially underway on Outlander season 6, although the pandemic has slowed things down markedly. The rainy weather in Scotland isn’t helping either. “We started in January, and I guess fans will have to do the maths,” Heughan said. “I can’t do it off the top of my head. But I guess the Droughtlander is going to last a little bit longer.”

In the meantime, fans can catch Heughan and Graham McTavish (Dougal MacKenzie) on their Starz series Men in Kilts, where they travel across Scotland exploring all its beauty, culture, and mysteries.

If you haven’t checked it out, I highly recommend it!
