The Boys spin-off casts its first actors

The Boys, Amazon’s violent and irreverent superhero satire, is getting a spin-off about college-aged Supes competing for contracts. Meet your “heroes.”

Amazon Studios is currently filming the third season of The Boys, but that’s not all that’s planned for this gleefully iconoclastic superhero show. There’s also a spin-off on the way. It doesn’t have a name yet, but it’ll be set at America’s only superhero college, run by evil multinational corporation Vought. Think of it as Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, but the dark mirror universe version, a highly competitive environment where ambitious young Supes compete for contracts in the best US cities.

And now, we know who will be in the cast! Per Deadline, Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) will play Marie and Lizzie Broadway (The RookieBones) will play Emma. We don’t know anything about their characters or what kinds of powers they have, but the actors themselves seem ecstatic, as they shared on their Instagram pages:

The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg will serve as showrunner on the spinoff. As expected, many producers from the main show will cross over.

It’s unclear when the spin-off will air. Filming hasn’t started yet, so don’t expect to see it this year. Perhaps in 2022?

The Boys is based on a comic book by Garth Ennis, but the spin-off will see Amazon Studios forging their own path. Should it prove a success, we could be in for a The Boys cinematic universe. If it’s as unique and fun as the original show, I’m all for it!

The Boys season 3 currently has no official premiere date, although fans are hoping it will drop later this year!
