Disney fired Gina Carano (Cara Dune) from The Mandalorian about a month back. Now, her merch is getting discontinued as well.

Last month, Disney fired The Mandalorian star Gina Carano (Cara Dune) after the latest in a series of inflammatory social media posts, which the company called “abhorrent.” It was quite the conversation starter at the time, with some fans praising the move and others calling for Carano to be rehired. Disney stuck to its guns, and now we’re seeing the aftereffects.

To wit, dis.pops on Instagram got a message from retailer Entertainment Earth that the Cara Dune Funko Pop figure had been discontinued:

Funko Pops, of course, are the ubiquitous big-headed dolls modeled after famous pop cultural figures. In its message, Entertainment Earth notes that Funko itself hadn’t provided any information on why the figurine had been discontinued, but it doesn’t take a genius.

It’s interesting to think about how many other businesses are affected by Disney’s decision. When Disney hires an actor, they’re also hiring a face they can plaster on dolls, calendars, watches, pens, mugs and all kinds of other assorted merchandise. Now all of that has be canned. And that’s not to mention the Cara Dune tie-in novels, appearances in future series, and so forth. We even heard that Disney was planning on giving Cara her own show before they decided to fire Carano. And it’s not like Cara was a hugely important character, but when the company is as huge as Disney, things reverberate.

As for The Mandalorian, there’s a third season on the way, but obviously don’t expect to see Gina Carano pop up.
