Between the Star Wars sequel trilogy and Lionsgate’s Chaos Walking, Daisy Ridley has seen her fair share of fantastical worlds. Like many of us, however, her interest in the extraordinary started at a young age. As it turns out, Ridley was a Harry Potter fan growing up. And although she never had the chance to break into that particular franchise, she did once try to convince her classmates that she appeared in the films — and as a pretty well-known character, no less!

During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Ridley recounted her efforts to get her peers to believe she played Moaning Myrtle, the miserable ghost that lives in one of the girls bathrooms, in the popular franchise. “I’m not proud of myself when I say it,” Ridley said. “I’m ashamed.”

"Basically, when I was at school — it also makes me sound like a mental teenager — I was like, ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing if people thought I played Moaning Myrtle?’ So, I went to boarding school. So, basically, I copied and pasted a picture of Moaning Myrtle into Microsoft Word, wrote ‘Daisy Ridley’ underneath it and left that in the common room. One, like a psychopath. Two, as though anyone I went to school with would believe that I played Moaning Myrtle."

It’s more than a little hilarious that Ridley would attempt this, but to be fair, who wouldn’t want to claim stardom in the Harry Potter films? With some glasses and a different haircut, maybe Ridley could have convinced a few people she was the wailing ghost in the Hogwarts bathroom.

Daisy Ridley thinks Baba Yoda has an unfair advantage over Rey

Of course, after playing a Jedi — the lead Jedi — in the most recent set of Star Wars films, Ridley doesn’t exactly need Harry Potter on her resume to earn bragging rights anymore. Although she does have competition in that space, most notably from the internet’s favorite living plush toy Grogu, aka Baby Yoda.

“Here’s the thing… Baby Yoda is immensely powerful but also Baby Yoda is almost cheating because he’s so sweet that whatever Baby Yoda did you’re like, ‘Aww!'” Ridley told Fandom.  “Whereas, I’m a human so I don’t have that. So I feel like Baby Yoda has had an easier time being a Force healer because it’s Baby Yoda being a Force healer. We’re both good in that space but he definitely has cuteness on me.”

I look forward to the face-off in The Mandalorian season 6.
