Zack Snyder not ruling out return to the DC Extended Universe
By Dan Selcke
Zack Snyder’s Justice League, aka the Snyder Cut, is available to watch now on HBO Max, and the consensus seems to be that it’s a big improvement on the original 2017 version of the movie.
The Snyder Cut is technically the third movie Zack Snyder directed in the DCEU, which he kicked off with 2013’s Man of Steel and continued with 2016’s Batman v. Superman. Since then, Warner Bros. has been taking the universe in another direction, whether it’s by making lighter superhero fare like Shazam! or experimental one-offs like Joker. Snyder may have started the DCEU, but it looks like his time working in it is over.
Then again, as he told Entertainment Weekly, the Snyder Cut didn’t seem like it would ever happen, so who’s to say he couldn’t come back? “I always go, what is more likely? That Warner Bros. would ask me to make a sequel to Justice League? Or that they would resurrect a three-year-old movie, spend millions of dollars to restore it to my original [vision], and then release it? I think that the sequel would have been a more likely scenario than what’s just happened. So, I guess in the face of that I say, ‘Who knows what the future holds?'”
He makes some solid points.
After Zack Snyder’s Justice League, look out for Army of the Dead
2021 is a big year for Snyder. In addition to the Snyder Cut, his movie Army of the Dead comes out on Netflix on May 21.
“Army is all done,” the director said. “I’m super proud and happy. I think it came out amazing. I can’t wait for fans to get a chance to see it. The new trailer is coming soon, I think in the middle of April. I’ve had a great experience with Netflix and the cast and crew. Shooting of the film was probably my most joyful cinematic experience as far as production goes.”
