The keanusaince continues as the actor stars in and produces an adaptation of BRZRKR, the comic he created about a millennia-old warrior.

Keanu Reeves is 56 years old, but based on the kind of work he’s doing, you’d think he was 20 or even 30 years younger. He’s at the head of two major action franchises with sequels coming out in the next couple of years: The Matrix and John Wick, and that’s not to mention he’s buzzworth role in the video game Cyberpunk 2077. And he’s not resting on that, as The Hollywood Reporter has it that the actor is also producing a starring in a Netflix adaptation of BRZRKR, a comic he created with writer Matt Kindt and artist Ron Garney.

First up, if you’re wondering, “BRZRKR” is the word “berserker,” but in all caps and with some of the letters missing; I’m not here to question Reeves’ artistry. It’s about an immortal warrior (who looks a lot like Keanu Reeves, naturally) who has battled for millennia in the hopes of finally attaining peace. It kind of sounds like the Netflix movie The Old Guard, which is also based on a comic, expect this one has Keanu Reeves.

Maybe that’s why Netflix is going even harder on this series. They’re making a BRZRKR movie that will adapt the 12 issues of the comic published by BOOM! Studios. Meanwhile, an animated series will explore what SyFy Wire calls “the wider BRZRKR universe,” because of course there’s a wider BRZRKR universe.

BRZRKR started on Kickstarter last year and ended up selling half a million copies of its first issue, which is excellent. Anything involving Keanu Reeves these days is worth checking out, and I’m sure Netflix is happy to be part of the keanusaince.
