No, Kevin Feige isn’t helping build the Star Wars cinematic universe

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is often praised for being the architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has an internal consistency that a lot of other shared universes struggle to match. And with Feige now working on his own Star Wars movie, fans have started to wonder whether he’ll work his magic on that franchise. After all, with all the new Star Wars shows and movies on the way, Disney seems determined to build out a Star Wars cinematic universe, and who better to manage it than the guy who worked wonders with Marvel?

However, it doesn’t seem like Feige is planning to be involved beyond the one movie he’s working on. “No. That’s all Kathy Kennedy,” Feige told Entertainment Weekly, name-dropping the current president of Lucasfilm. “I’m involved in as much as I stay up until midnight L.A. time to watch new episodes of The Mandalorian when they drop.”

That’s relatable enough. And Feige does already have a ton of new Marvel content to worry about. This year alone will see four new films and a total of six series joining the MCU, more than enough to take up his time without also putting him in charge of all things Star Wars.

What we know about Kevin Feige’s Star Wars movie

Even if Feige won’t help build out the Star Wars universe, he’ll still get to make his mark on a galaxy far, far away with the film he’s working on, initially announced back in 2019. He’ll be collaborating with Kennedy on the upcoming installment, which has yet to be given a title or release date. Details about this new Star Wars project are scarce, although it’s clear Disney has complete confidence in Feige and Kennedy to put something impressive together. “With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together,” Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn told The Hollywood Reporter when the film was first announced.

It could be a while before fans find out what this new film will look like, and how it fits into the Star Wars cinematic universe. Fortunately, there will be no shortage of Disney+ content to enjoy while we wait, including a new season of The Mandalorian, a show about Obi-Wan Kenobi, and much more.

Sebastian Stan isn’t joining the Star Wars Cinematic Universe, either

As long as we’re debunking rumors about the Star Wars Cinematic Universe, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Sebastian Stan has denied rumors that he’ll be playing a young Luke Skywalker. “If Mark Hamill calls me personally to tell me that he feels inclined to share this role with me, then I’ll believe it. Until then, I won’t believe it.”

One of these days, a Star Wars rumor will be true, and the internet will rejoince.
