Margot Robbie, John Cena, Idris Elba, Sylvester Stallone, Pete Davidson, Viola Davis and many more mix it up in the trailer for The Suicide Squad. Watch!
Warner Bros. has released an official trailer for The Suicide Squad, its sequel/reboot/whatever to 2016’s largely panned Suicide Squad, this time directed by Guardians of the Galaxy’s James Gunn and packed to the gills with big names. Watch below!
Truly, the cast on this thing is nuts. Behold:
- Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn
- Idris Elba as Bloodsport
- John Cena as Peacemaker
- Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag
- Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang
- Peter Capaldi as Thinker
- Michael Rooker as Savant
- Pete Davidson as Blackguard
- Nathan Fillion as T.D.K.
- Sylvester Stallone as King Shark
- Viola Davis as Amanda Waller
I mean, how much must this movie have spent on trailers for all the actors alone? More than the special effects, probably.
The plot is pretty much the same as it was last time: Amanda Waller puts together a team of supervillains to carry out dangerous missions in exchange for reductions on their lengthy prison sentences. The bones are good: send a bunch of unstable, selfish, powerful characters on a mission together and watch the sparks fly. For whatever reason, the first movie failed to connect with fans or critics, but perhaps with Gunn’s steady hand at the wheel (and if Warner Bros. can learn to lay off the edit a bit), this one will be more successful.
The Suicide Squad comes out in theaters and on HBO Max at the same time on August 6.
