Outlander season 6 is officially in production, and during Sunday night’s episode of Men In Kilts, we got our first full behind-the-scenes look at how things are progressing. And I’m happy to report things are looking as amazing as any Outlander fan could hope.
The minute-long video shows Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser), Sophie Skelton (Brianna Fraser) and Richard Rankin (Roger Mackenzie) spilling a bit of tea on what fans can expect from the upcoming sixth season.
Not only are they all returning, but as the story progresses into Diana Gabaldon’s sixth book, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, we’re going to be seeing some new characters pop up in season 6. According to Bleeding Cool, Mark Lewis Jones (Gangs of London), Jessica Reynolds (My Left Nut) and Alexander Vlahos (Versailles) will be joining the series as the Christies.
Along with the new characters, Outlander season 6 will take us in new directions. After all, the Revolutionary War is approaching, which will bring all sorts of new challenges. We’re here for all of it.
What is Outlander season 6 about?
And the looming war isn’t the only thing the characters will have to deal with. For one thing, Claire will be going on a journey of healing after the horrendous sexual assault she endured in season 5. As mentioned above, we’ll also meet the Christies: Tom, Malva, and Allan. They will arrive at Fraser’s Ridge looking for a place to settle and call home. Of course, that will come with its share of issues that will play out over the course of the season.
Tom Christie is described as a devout Protestant who isn’t the easiest person to deal with. He met Jamie back during their time in Ardsmuir prison.
Malva Christie is someone I’m particularly excited about because she is very much like Claire. She’s outspoken and immediately captivated by the things Claire does and her modern ways of thinking. That will certainly spell trouble between her and her very conservative father.
Last but not least, Allan is suspicious of Fraser’s Ridge and all the people living there. That’s what this place needs: another suspicious guy looking to cause trouble!
I’m certainly excited about what Outlander season 6 has in store for us, and from the looks of it, it’s already shaping up to be just as epic as we’d hoped.
The Droughtlander continues, but there’s an end in sight.
