Wonder Woman 1984 gag reel brings smiles to the DCEU

After its Christmas Day premiere, Wonder Woman 1984 has finally arrived on digital after a truncated theatrical release. Warner Bros. marked the occasion with a six-minute gag reel featuring hilarious outtakes and antics behind the scenes of the hit movie.

There’s nothing quite like seeing joy on Gal Gadot’s face. Her smile is electric, so when she starts to lose control during a scene she often infects everyone around her with riotous laughter.

The gag reel is set to whimsical music and the very first shot is Gadot hitting herself in the head with the Lasso of Truth. It sets the tone for the rest of the reel, which features Chris Pine, Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig.

Wonder Woman 1984 gag reel: “Gal will giggle at the air”

Filming any major movie comes with a lot of pressure, but there are still moments when actors can’t help but laugh. It can be a flubbed line, a prop malfunction or even the hint of a smile that grows out of control.

At one point, Pine says that “Gal will giggle at the air” when she starts laughing suddenly. And it’s true; many of the gag reel moments feature Gadot laughing hysterically, often out of nowhere.

Pedro Pascal also has a bunch of fun moments, from botching lines to making faces, while Wiig tries to deliver her lines while holding a chunk of hair. There is dancing, wind, and Pascal breaking wind. Poor Chris Pine looks on helplessly in most of the scenes, but he causes lots of problems by making Gadot laugh when she’s trying to deliver lines.

The gag reel is proof that this cast had a great time working together. Thankfully, Wiig’s Cheetah and Pascal’s Maxwell Lord live to fight another day, so maybe they can reunite in a sequel.

Wonder Woman 1984 was the first movie that HBO Max streamed on the same day it was released in theaters. With many parts of the world under lockdown on December 25, the movie set records for the service as fans tuned in to see the sequel to Patty Jenkins’ 2017 smash hit. Though the pandemic kept the movie from having a big showing at the box office, its performance on HBO Max was enough to make executives happy.

As fans delight in the Wonder Woman 1984 gag reel, it’s worth wondering whether there will be a gag reel released for Zack Snyder’s Justice League, because there absolutely should be. With so many talented actors involved, and knowing Gadot’s penchant for giggles, a Snyder Cut gag reel would be fantastic.

And as long as we’re talking about major Warner Bros. movies that release in both theaters and on HBO Max, take a look at the trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong:
