Outlander fans have been getting frequent updates on the production of the sixth season, and now there’s even more to celebrate. Per Outlander author Diana Gabaldon, she has officially finished the ninth book in the series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.
This has been a few years in the making, so seeing the woman herself confirm that the book is completely finished is very exciting indeed. Perhaps George R.R. Martin could get some tips from his friend Diana Gabaldon? Just putting it out there.
The tweet shows a screenshot of Gabaldon’s Word document (which is likely ridiculously long) on its final page, which simply reads, “The End.” Who knew two words could have such an impact on people all around the world?
For those getting nervous about what “The End” means, rest assured it doesn’t mean the end of the Outlander novel series. At least, that’s the assumption, anyway. Nothing of the like has been announced, so let’s just keep our heart palpitations at a minimum and just rejoice in the news that there’s more Outlander on the way.
When can we expect to read Outlander book 9, Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone?
As can be seen from Gabaldon’s tweet, she has no idea when the book might come out; that’s up to the publisher. So while I know we’re all anxiously waiting to line up at our local bookstores, we may have to wait just a tad bit longer.
With Gabaldon just finishing the book, there are still many other things that have to happen before it’s in our hands. Between editing, actually publishing the book, and distribution, there may still be a bit of a wait ahead. Fingers crossed for a 2021 release.
As soon as there are any updates on that front, you all will be the first to know. Trust me, I’ll be keeping my eyes and ears peeled for any news! But for now, we can just celebrate the fact that Outlander book 9 is finished, and the Droughtlander is that much shorter.
