Star Trek: Picard is one of many series that’s been put on hold thanks to the coronavirus, with this show having to be particularly careful not to put 80-year-old lead actor Patrick Stewart in harm’s way. But things are finally rolling again on the second season, with Paramount+ even releasing a quick teaser trailer to whet fans’ appetites:

Watch the teaser trailer for Star Trek: Picard season 2

Clearly, the second season of the show will be preoccupied with time, which is why it’s the perfect time to bring back the character of Q, an extra-dimensional being who can manipulate space, time and reality and uses his powers mostly to annoy Jean-Luc Picard. And indeed, John de Lancie will be returning to the role he originated on Star Trek: The Next Generation (and continued on Star Trek: Voyager), as he announced during an interview with Stewart:

Patrick Stewart makes it sound like the episode where Q shows up is pretty intense, describing it as “utterly unexpected” and that it comes at a “shattering moment.” For his part, de Lancie describes Q as “deliciously naughty.” Sounds like fun all around.

Star Trek: Picard season 2 will also feature the return of cast members Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Jeri Ryan and Orla Brady. We don’t have a release date yet, but with things moving again, hopefully that’s around the corner.

Lots of Star Wars news coming out today! We also got a trailer for the second season of Star Trek: Lower Decks, which debuts on Paramount+ on August 12.

And a trailer for the fourth season of Star Trek: Discovery season 4:

That one’s coming at some point this year.
