On April 9, Syfy will air the series finale of Wynonna Earp, the supernatural Western horror series created by Emily Andras…or at least, it might be the series finale. The show has a long history of being on the bubble between seasons, and viewers have helped pull it out of the fire before, like when fans Kayla Addicks, Jill Macklem and Lindsey D’Amour helped mount a billboard in Times Square urging people to #FightForWynonna. And indeed, the show kept going when some counted it out.

Now, those same fans are helping organize a new billboard campaign, this time in Didsbury, Alberta, which stands in for the town of Purgatory on the show. The idea is this: the fans have set up a GoFundMe page for people to donate. You can just give money if you want, but for certain prices, you can also submit homemade billboards and postcards that will then be shown in three significant locations around Didsbury. That’ll happen on April 8, tomorrow!

All proceeds will help out with Didsbury municipal projects or go to Keep Alberta Rolling, a nonprofit that raises awareness of the film industry in Alberta. The goal is to give back to the town where Wynonna Earp is filmed and to raise awareness about the fans’ quest to #BringWynonnaHome and get the show a fifth season on a network other than Syfy.

So far, the fan-made creations are rolling in. “We’ve had ones from Brazil, from Australia, for the U.K. and all over Europe,” Keep Alberta Rolling head of advocacy Brock Skretting told the Calgary Herald. “Germany is really popular. We’ve had postcards coming in from all over and from every state.”

"I would never bet against Earpers. This is second nature for them. It’s what they do. It’s how they support the show, it’s how they support the actors and crew in the show. Last week, they flew a #Bringwynonnahome plane over L.A. They are doing all sorts of things to try and save their show and find a U.S. distributor for future seasons."

Considering how passionate they are, I wouldn’t bet against them either.

Wynonna Earp showrunner still has hope the show could continue

For her part, Andras is planning for Friday’s finale to be its final bow…but she’s also leaving some wiggle room. “I feel like given all that the show has been through and how hard we had to fight to keep going for a variety of just crazy reasons, and how dedicated the fans have been fighting for the show, I did not have a crystal ball, but I was pretty determined to give them a fairly satisfying ending,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “There are some things that are unresolved because I like to hedge my bets or come back for a movie in 20 years. Whatever happens, I’m really proud of the finale. I really love it, I think it’s one of my favorite episodes, and I really hope the fans do, too.”

We’ll see what happens.
