The Mandalorian: Stunning life-sized replica of the Razor Crest destroyed

Last month, a Star Wars superfan in Russia unveiled a stunning life-size replica of the Razor Crest, the ship the title character uses in The Mandalorian. Thanks to coronavirus restrictions and financial difficulties, the replica took the fan over a year to complete, but he still managed to pull through. The finished replica is truly a sight to behold…or at least it was.

During its short life, the 46-feet long, 33-feet wide replica garnered a lot of media coverage. It even featured a full console in the cockpit, making it the best way to pretend you’re flying around in the galaxy far, far away.

Unfortunately, the gunship has sadly been destroyed, either by strong winds or perhaps a vengeful Force user just out of frame in this video posted to Reddit:

"Remember russian guys who made real life Razor Crest replica? It was destroyed by wind… from TheMandalorianTV"

As you might expect, Redditors. “Only Imperial wind is so precise,” one user wrote. “This couldn’t have been more destroyed if you were trying to destroy it,” another quipped.

Ironically, the destruction actually resembles what happens to the Razor Crest in season 2 of the show. In “Chapter 14: The Tragedy,” Moff Gideon explodes the beloved gunship. Although somehow I doubt that’s much comfort to creator Just Ayaal; his friend sold his car to fund the project, while others donated money.

Clearly, a lot of hard work went into building this beast. See for yourself in this video from CBS News:

Before the replica was destroyed, at least there were some terrific pictures. This one looks like it has come straight out of the show, dramatically setting sun and all:

Both seasons of The Mandalorian are currently streaming on Disney+. The third season doesn’t have a premiere date yet.
