Jeffrey Dean Morgan has done one hell of a job playing Negan on The Walking Dead, and now that the show is coming to an end next year, fans are wondering what (if anything) is next for the villain turned productive member of a post-apocalyptic society.
After The Walking Dead concludes with season 11, we”ll still have Fear The Walking Dead, one more season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, the Carol and Daryl spinoff, the Rick Grimes movies and the anthology series Tales of The Walking Dead. There’s even a Walking Dead comedy series in the works. Might there be room for a Negan spin-off somewhere in there? Especially after the extra season 10 episode “Here’s Negan,” which filled us in on the character’s backstory, that sounds like a more appetizing prospect than ever.
Naturally, when Morgan stopped by Conan this week, Conan O’Brien asked him about the possibility of a Negan spin-off. Let’s see what he said:
“We’ll see,” Morgan told O’Brien. “It’s definitely being talked about. I think they’re thinking of a couple different ideas, but I’ve definitely had conversations about possibly continuing the story of Negan.”
Jeffrey Dean Morgan deserves his own Walking Dead spin-off about Negan
I’m glad the higher-ups see the value in continuing Negan’s story! And it seems like Jeffrey Dean Morgan has really made a home for himself with this franchise, what with his wife playing his on-screen wife Lucille and now his 11-year-old son all set to play the role of a child walker in the final season.
So if anyone belongs in this series for the long haul, it’s Morgan. Give us what we want AMC: give us the Negan spin-off we’re waiting for.
