10 best moments from the Game of Thrones series premiere
Arya interrupts target practice
Watching the scenes of the Stark children being introduced in the first episode truly tugs at the heartstrings. Only a few of them survive to the end of the series, and those who do have suitcases full of trauma to carry around.
One of the best moments for Arya Stark is short and silly but foreshadows so much of what’s in store for her. Bran Stark and his brothers Robb and Jon Snow are in the training yard helping the younger Bran practice with a bow and arrow. Bran isn’t skilled with the weapon, but Arya pops up and lands a bullseye from even farther away.
Arya is still wearing a dress and has her long brown hair braided into an updo in the fashion of the ladies of the North. Moments before nocking her arrow, she was slouching and grimacing inside, having to cross stitch with her much more “ladylike” sister Sansa. It’s an inconsequential moment in the grand scheme of the first episode but teases so much about Arya’s fighting spirit.
