Emilia Clarke, who made her name playing the Dragon Queen Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, is in final negotiations to join the cast of Marvel’s Secret Invasion series, reports Variety. This would mark Clarke’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Secret Invasion is one of many Marvel series heading to Disney+ over the next few years. This one stars Samuel L. Jackson in the role of Nick Fury, as he investigates an attempt by the shape-shifting Skrull aliens to slowly replace people on Earth…it’s a kind of secret invasion, if you will. The show also stars Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos, who he also played in 2019’s Captain Marvel. Kingsley Ben-Adir will play a villain, and The Crown star Olivia Colman may also be involved, possibly playing Skrull queen Vernake.

There’s no word on who Clarke might play, but with the MCU as hot as ever, this is a big deal. Popular speculation is that she could be playing S.W.O.R.D. commander Abigail Brand.

What other Game of Thrones veterans have joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Clarke is far from the only Game of Thrones alum to set up shop in the MCU. Both Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Richard Madden (Robb Stark) will star in Eternals, one of the next big Marvel movies. Meanwhile, Sophie Turner (Sansa) and Maisie Williams (Arya) have both been in X-Men movies, although that’s before Disney bought Fox, meaning their parts will probably be retooled out of existence.
